400 HOURS! (AS SPY) — JENING idea for Spy Update

JENING is proud to announce that as of September 7, 2007, JENING has played over four-hundred hours as spy!  JENING would like to thank his good friends in the FB clan as JENING broke 400 hours on Dustbowl 2 on The Beer Is A Lie (HLXStats)!  JENING thanks all his friends for their support in JENING’s acheivement!

JENING would like to propose to everyone an idea for the spy update!  JENING proposes:

Detectproof Disguise Kit

It would replace the current disguise kit and would have the effect of a cloak that never shimmers.  If a spy is bumped into or even if he is flamed, it will be undetectable to the other team.  The spy would still take damage as usual.  The spy would also still not be able to go through enemies or enemy structures.  In exchange, the cloak time would be lessened (or the time it takes to go from uncloaked to cloak can be increased).

This addresses the main problem spies face:  overdetectability from overzealous random spycheckers, mainly pyros.  With this disguise kit, the spy would still take damage as usual (e.g. burning from flames), so random spychecking would still be a hard counter.  But if the spy is not detectable when he is on fire (or bumped) then the spy stands a fighting chance to find a medpack or otherwise get out of the sticky situation if he is hurt.  As it is, a cloaked spy is the only class that is completely helpless when setafire:  can’t fire back, and can’t run since the enemy need only follow the flames.

JENING believes that any spy update will make everyone spycheck even more.  Any update that doesn’t address the spy’s vulnerability to random spy checking, JENING believes would effectively nerf the spy!  JENING wonders what his friends think!

A brief JENING thought about the Spy Update

JENING was browsing Youtube today and found a video that sums up the Spy’s most difficult challenge! If the Spy Update (whenever it comes) tries to make it easier to spy, JENING thinks it will fail if it only includes new weapons! JENING thinks that playing spy will be easier only if players (mainly pyros!) cannot spy check so easily without any consequences!
